Donald Bennett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waller Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 17, 2026.
Mr. Donald Edward "Donnie" Bennett, 69, passed from this life on Monday, February 16, 2026, at his home in Oxford, MS surrounded by his family. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Brother Mark Daily officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:30 A.M.

Donnie was born on June 23, 1956 to Mr. Ed & Mrs. JoAnn Bennett. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Abbeville where he was committed to helping meet the needs of his beloved church. He enjoyed serving as a Vacation Bible School teacher and was a member of the Building and Grounds Committee.

Donnie began his career in construction as a teenager in 1972 when he went to work for J. B. Cullen. In 1983, he began his career at ENDEVCO and worked 35 years prior to retirement. He worked tirelessly building bridges and pouring concrete so that every industry standard was met, in addition to his own personal standard. As dedicated as he was to his work, his love for his family was so much more. Affectionally known as "AnGraddy", he was a big-hearted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He poured all of himself into every aspect of his life and his loving family reaped the rewards. He was a member of O.D. Smith Masonic Lodge, an avid follower of Ole Miss football and was a skilled woodworker who could often be found in his shop tinkering.

Donnie was survived by his wife of 15 years, Carla Bennett of Oxford, MS; son, Chris Bennett (Sandra) of Oxford, MS; daughters, Beth Garner (Paul) of Byhalia, MS, Cara Pollan (James) of Oxford, MS, and Cate Dennis (Austin) of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Emma Bennett, Channing Bennett, Swayze Pollan, Harper Pollan, Maddox Pollan, Ava James Pollan, Knox Pollan, Easton Dennis, Alyssa Stegall (Lee), Addie Stegall, Maylee Stegall, Jack Garner, Cara Garner; sisters, Linda Pritchard, Pam Frierson (Robert), and Peggy Bennett.

We would like to thank Dr. Nathan Bell and the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Oxford Home Therapy for their unwavering care and concern throughout this journey. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in Donnie's memory made to North MS Kidney Foundation, 308 Highway 8 West, Aberdeen, MS 39730.
