Michael Modica, age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, surrounded by his wife of 41 years, Susan Modica, and daughter, Gina Modica. Michael was born on October 31, 1960 in Manhattan, New York. The son of Michael and Mary Modica, Michael spent his early years in the Bronx, New York.
During his teens, they moved to Centereach, Long Island, where he learned to ride motorcycles and work alongside his father. At age 17, he joined the military and was stationed in Mainz, West Germany and then graduated from Ranger School. He spent three years active duty and three years in the reserves. After the military, Michael was a Correctional Officer at Green Haven, Sing Sing, and Attica state prisons before becoming an NYPD police officer.
Michael will be remembered by so many of his dear friends of how much of a jokester he was and how much he made others smile and laugh. He collected cars and rode across country on his motorcycle several times.
Michael's #1 priority in life was always his family. Being a close family was very important to him. Michael always enjoyed family trips together and seeing the world. But Michael's greatest joy in life was raising his beautiful daughter, Gina, whom he loved very much. Gina always loved to make her father proud. One of his favorite memories was being able to take his daughter to China and climb the Great Wall together.
Michael is survived by his wife, Susan, and daughter, Gina. They will miss him forever.
