May 19, 1955 - January 1, 2021
Michael "Mike" Lance Morton, 65, of Hickory, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Catawba Valley Medical Center, after a gallant four-year battle with cancer.
Mike made the most out of life traveling, playing golf and doing whatever it took to keep himself busy. He spent quality time with his family whom he loved unconditionally.
He was born May 19, 1955, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., to the late Sidney Morton and Mary Cvar Morton.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Morton of the home; daughters, Brooke Morton of the home, Christine Baker of Greenville, S.C. and Tabatha Morton of Florida; sister, Diane Victor of Pine Hills, Fla.; brothers, Dave Morton of Rock Hill, S.C., Phil Morton of Sanborn, N.Y.; and of course Sparkle and Lily.
A private memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Duke officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center (Stephanie's work family), Carolina Caring and Carolina Oncology for the continued love and support during this difficult time.
