Michael Wayne Moyer, age 76, of Jacksonville, Arkansas collapsed on his front porch and in spite of all the care from paramedics passed away 24 June 2024. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Mike was born March 29, 1949 in Elyria, Ohio, the beloved and only son of the late Charles Edwin Moyer and Minnie Belle Gern.
Mike enlisted in the Air Force after high school and served 3 years, ending up as a Sergeant in 314 FMS (TAC) Little Rock Air Force Base. After being honorably discharged, he joined the 189th Arkansas Air National Guard until 1986 when he joined the 168th Alaska Air National Guard in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1999 he retired as a Master Sergeant from the Alaska Air Guard. He worked for the City of Jacksonville and Pathfinders after returning to Jacksonville.
During his long life, he was a avid bowler and had bowled several 300s. He loved going fishing with his father. His grandfather, Wayne, and Mike started watching the first Super Bowl together and continued every year until Mike joined the Air Force. Mike continued after his grandfather passed and had watched all the games. Helping in the hay fields in Ohio was something he liked to talk about. And sadly, he talked about his short time in Vietnam and losing friends when their base was bombed.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents Wayne Sylvester and Myilce 'Myrtle' Alveta Lance Moyer; Walter Barrow Sr and Christine G Wolinski Gern.
Mike is survived and missed by his loving wife Linda (Webb) of 45 years, and two sons, Michael Joseph Moyer and Shane Martin Moyer of Cabot, AR. One sister, Linda (Paul) Friday of Bauxite, AR. Two step-sons Dennis and Dean Ford of Texas.
Memorial service to honor Mike will be held later in the year. Interment will be at the Veteran's Cemetery. Full service details to come.
