Michael was born on March 22nd 1974, with a fighting spirit from day one and defied all odds. Michael was a kind-hearted soul who touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his beloved mother, Antoinette 'Toni' Farrar and her wife Karen Gridley of Phoenix AZ, his loving father Michael W. Murphy of Moira NY, his beloved siblings Jennifer Peau (Jonathan) of Groton CT, Elizabeth McDonald (Brian) of Moira NY, John Murphy of Malone NY, Adelynn Murphy of Yonkers NY, and his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Connie and John Farrar, his paternal grandparents, Gertrude and Earl Murphy, and by his niece, Emma McDonald.
Born in Syracuse NY, where he attended Our Lady of Pompei with his dearest friends, Mike moved to Connecticut as a teenager and graduated from Stonington High School. Most recently, he had been employed at Trader Joe's where he was lucky enough to have the best crew members who loved him as much as he loved them. Everywhere he went, he made family. From his OLP crew to his Mystic Color Lab crew, if he was your friend in kindergarten, he was your friend for life!
There is a saying, "All people die, but not all people live." Michael lived! Michael had a zest for life. If you knew him, his favorite thing to do was go to live concerts from G.Love to Dave Matthews Band. If you wanted to go with him he'd buy you a ticket, because making those memories with the people he loved is what he lived for. He loved spending time with his family golfing with his father, seeing sites with his mother, and "chillin" with his siblings, cousins, and best friends, if you know what I mean
Mike always exuded good vibes and happiness and wanted the same for all who surrounded him. He had a contagious smile and laugh that could light up any room and a warm personality that made everyone feel welcome. His presence will forever be felt in the hearts of his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, positivity, and strength that will be cherished by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mike's family Monday, December 4th from 4-7 p.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford NY.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, December 5th from 12-4 p.m. at the Fuller Road Fire Department Banquet Hall, 1342 Central Ave Albany NY.
In lieu of flowers, Mike's love of music was so strong, that the family is requesting you attend a concert in Mike's honor and share your good times with them through photos and stories of your experience.

Mike was a bright light wherever he went. Though too few and far between, every family event that brought us together was better for his presence. He made everyone feel like a favorite and exuded joy and a love for life. He will surely be missed.

Dear Sweet Murph,
You were the kindest, warmest person I could have ever hoped to meet. Thanks for taking me under your wing at TJ´s. I only wished we could have hung out more before I moved. Thanks for all the hugs, and laughs and jokes. I still think about the potted sunflower you gave me. Thanks for being my friend and my only regret is that we didn´t meet sooner. You are so loved and will be missed greatly.

The obituary captures Mike to a tee. I first met Mike 13 yrs ago, he was a tough, fun loving guy with an infectious personality and true grit in his soul. My relationship with him was professional, however he left his mark in my heart. I am so saddened by his passing , all who knew him will miss him sorely. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and those who loved him the most.
Mike loved life, and he loved his life.
He was truly a special guy.
