Michael P. Nellany

Michael P. Nellany, of Quincy, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Born on July 10, 1950, in the quaint town of Collooney, County Sligo, Ireland, Michael's journey was one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
Michael's life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of community. He was the beloved husband of Margaret M. Nellany (McCarron) for fifty-two years and a devoted father to Michael J. Nellany and his fiancée Jen Hansen of Charlestown, Jeffrey T. Nellany and his wife Victoria of Braintree, and Tracy A. Mannke and her husband David of Weymouth. His legacy extends through his adored grandchildren Michael, Devin, Matthew, Jeffrey, Alyssa, Natalie, Cara, Ronan, and Bridget, who will forever cherish their papa's wisdom and warmth.
Survived by his loving siblings Mae Power of Woburn, Dymphna Moynihan of Mashpee, Patsy Sweeney of Sligo, Ireland, Cathy O'Dwyer of Braintree, and Marian Irwin of County Mayo, Ireland. Michael was a brother like no other. He was preceded in death by his brothers Joe, Eugene, and Charlie Nellany, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family both near and far.
Raised in the green hills of County Sligo, Michael's early days in Ireland laid the foundation for a life of curiosity and a can-do attitude. He brought these to Milton then Quincy, where he spent many years building a life and community.
Michael was an electrician by trade, but to those who knew him, he was much more than that. A jack of all trades, Michael could fix anything, a skill he often lent generously to those in need. His work was not just a job but a way to connect with others, to serve and to build lasting relationships.
Beyond his professional life, Michael's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. His love for spirited debates was well-known among his relatives and friends, who will miss his insightful and lively contributions. A history enthusiast, he found joy in watching history shows, always eager to learn more about the world's past. However, it was the time spent with his family and friends that Michael cherished most. Those moments, filled with love and laughter, were the ones he held closest to his heart.
Michael P. Nellany lived a life rich in experiences and relationships. He touched the lives of many with his generosity and spirit. As we say goodbye to this extraordinary man, we do so with gratitude for the time we had with him and the memories we will carry forward. Michael's story is one of a life well-lived, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.

Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Sunday December 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth's Church, Milton Monday December 29th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery.
