Michael C. Nickerson

Michael Craig Nickerson passed away at home on April 13, 2025, in Byfield, MA following a heroic battle with laryngeal cancer. Born on April 5, 1944, in Melrose, he is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, their children, Sarah, Jonathan (Ryann), and Caila (Jessica), grandchildren Sam, Jack, and Loumis, his nieces and nephew and goldendoodle Charlie. He was a devoted husband, father, Pop and friend to many.
Mike attended Hebron Academy and went on to Northeastern University, majoring in business. He spent his career running the family business, Nevlen.
Mike had a passion for reading, studying maps and fishing, and was actively involved in his community. He was a leader in the Lynnfield Rotary Club and Masons, volunteered on many high school trips supporting the music and theater programs, was active in Lynnfield Centre Congregational Church and coached youth soccer, all demonstrating his commitment to service and fellowship.
He was a collector of friends, stamps, and coins, and a lifelong storyteller. Mike had a gift for remembering the details and retelling them with charm and humor. His strong Boston accent, quick wit, and sharp memory made his stories all the more memorable. He was an enthusiastic gardener, spending hours planning, planting, and tending his gardens and found true joy in sharing the bounty with friends and family. He had a love of travel and was fortunate to visit many parts of the world with his wife. He spent several winters in Florida where he found peace and joy fishing off his boat.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be remembered by friends and family alike.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m., at Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer Street, Lynnfield, MA, followed by a luncheon at Teresa's Prime Steakhouse in North Reading at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Neighbors Table or to Centre Congregational Church in Lynnfield.
