Michael S. "Mickey" Nido, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on February 15, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, Mickey was the beloved son of Frank and Florence Nido (Imperioli). A proud graduate of Pershing High School, he was soon called to serve his country and answered with honor, spending time in Korea after being drafted into the U.S. Army.
Following his military service, Mickey returned home and began building a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. He worked as a press operator for Chrysler before becoming part-owner of a vending company. Later in life, he brought his dedication and steady hand to Efficient Engineering in Troy, where he worked until retirement.
Mickey had a zest for life that was matched only by the love he had for his family. He enjoyed traveling, tending to his garden, and savoring life's simple pleasures. But nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his loved ones-hosting family gatherings, sharing stories, laughter, and meals. His warm heart and generous spirit made everyone feel at home.
Beloved husband of Teresa for 70 years. Loving father of Dennis (Elizabeth) and Frank (Lynda). Devoted grandfather of Ricky Jr., Marcelle (Jared), Anthony (Nikki), Alaina, Marilyn (Mark), Calen, Benjamin (Akansha), Maria, and one great grandchild on the way. Dear brother of Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ricky, daughter-in-law Monica, and brother Frank.
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30AM at Christ, Our Light! Catholic Church 3077 Glouchester Dr. Troy. Visitation at the church will begin at 10AM.
Memorial tributes can be made to the charity of donor's choice.
