Michael A. Niegro III, known affectionately as Mike (or the nickname Sluggo) to his friends passed away on September 29, 2025, in Bradenton, FL at the age of 63. Born in Norfolk, VA, on June 13, 1962, Mike was a man who had a gentle spirit, kind heart, and a quick wit.

Mike worked in the culinary industry in both VA Beach and South FL for many years. Specifically, Mike was a great waiter at Sir Richards Rib House in VA Beach and later worked as a chef. Mike was a member of the Cape Henry After Hours Club. Mike's early years in Virginia Beach were filled with the salty air and the thrill of surfing waves with his friends. Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether that was sharing a cocktail with friends, playing a game of pool, watching a tennis match or the Denver Broncos. His love of tennis came from playing tournaments in Boca Raton, FL. Mike was an avid reader and often recounted hilarious stories from his life. Mike was known to turn into the "kissing bandit" as he was very charming, stealing a kiss whenever he could.

He is survived by his sister, Mary E. Keelin (Gene) of Virginia Beach, VA. Mike's legacy of warmth and camaraderie also lives on through his best friends, Doug Wood and Joe Johnston (Kim) of Bradenton, FL, Mike was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Kay Niegro (Tunstall), his sister, Susan Niegro and his longtime girlfriend, Cindy Martin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at one of Mike's favorite Bradenton hangouts, The Cortez Clam Factory, at a later date.
