Michael "Tom" Nix
Canyon, Texas
Michael "Tom" Nix of Canyon, Texas, passed away on August 5, 2025. A proud Canyon native, Tom was born to Lonnie "Dee" Nix and Sharron Williamson Nix and raised with the values of small-town living. He graduated from Canyon High School, where he was known for his athletic talent-especially on the baseball field.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Sharron and Dee Nix, and his beloved daughter, Amanda Nix.
He is survived by his children: Tanya Mills and her husband, Scott Mills, Samantha McKernan and her husband, Kenny McKernan, Cody Nix, and Jarred Nix and his wife, Jessie. Grandchildren who brought joy and pride to his life:
Dayton Williams, Jace Williams, Savanna Denton, Loralye McKernan, Rylee McKernan, Toby McKernan, and Carlee McKernan. He is also survived by his brothers: Tod Nix and his wife, Sandra, and Terry Nix.
Tom's career path was diverse and filled with passion, but one chapter stood out above the rest-his time as a flight medic. In that role, he served with courage, compassion, and skill, earning the trust and admiration of those who flew beside him and the gratitude of those he helped.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was known for his love of life and unwavering spirit. He never turned down a cold beer or a pour of Honey whiskey, and he was always the life of the party-bringing laughter, stories, and energy wherever he went.
Perhaps nothing brought him more pride than watching his granddaughter wrestle. Cheering from the sidelines, Tom lit up with joy-those moments meant more to him than any accolade or award ever could.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Hendrick Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Tom in his final days
