Michael Norton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (43rd St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Mar. 3, 2026.
Michael C. Norton, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, was called home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2026, after a valiant battle with a long-term illness. Born in Columbus, Indiana, on May 7, 1950, Mike's journey on this earth began as a joy to his late parents, Charles and Wanda Norton, and he continued to be a source of love and strength throughout his 75 years of life. Mike's passing in Bradenton, Florida, marked the end of an era filled with the warmth of his presence.

Although he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on through his cherished family. Mike was a beloved brother to Judy Jones and Karen Hounshell. His legacy continues through his children, Brian, Beverly, Steven, and David their spouses Heather, and Chrissy, respectively. Mike was a proud grandfather to Brandon, Kyle, Abagail, Jacob, Seraphina, Angelia, Levi, and Elijah Norton. He was predeceased by his siblings Vicki Norton and his parents.

An alumnus of Manatee Vocational School, Mike dedicated many years of his life to his craft as a skilled machinist. His work was not just a means to an end but a true expression of his meticulous nature and commitment to excellence. Mike's influence extended beyond his professional life as he was deeply involved in his community and church, embodying Christian values in all his endeavors.

Mike's faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he lived his beliefs through his actions. He had a passion for music and worship, which was evident from the age of five when he began to play the guitar and sing. His love for the Lord was matched only by his love for people, especially those who were often forgotten by society. Mike devoted many years to prison ministry, offering hope and spiritual guidance to those behind bars.

As someone who believed in the redeeming power of faith, Mike often found comfort and inspiration in the words of the Bible. A quote that he held dear was from the Apostle Paul, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). This scripture encapsulated Mike's approach to life and death - a life lived for Christ was full of purpose, and death was but a gateway to eternal communion with his Savior.

Mike's unwavering faith, his love for his family, and his commitment to serving others have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. As we remember Mike, we celebrate a life well-lived, a race well-run, and a faith well-kept. His memory will continue to be a beacon of light and a testament to a life dedicated to the service of Christ and his fellow man.

We take solace in the knowledge that Mike is now at peace, free from pain, and rejoicing in the presence of his Creator. His journey on earth is complete, but his story continues through the lives he touched and the love he shared. Mike's life was a reflection of his Master's heart, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he loved.
