Michael O'Carroll

Michael O'Carroll of Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully on Friday Sept 6, 2025 surrounded by loving family. He is survived by his sister, Sarah Deighan, his nieces Veronica Mennella, Carol Deighan and Mary Moran, their spouses, their children Steven, Vanessa, Susan, Samantha, Deirdre, Gerard, Sarah, Emily and many other nieces, nephews and cousins in the US, Ireland, Canada and Australia. He is predeceased by his parents James and Mary O'Carroll and his brothers, Brian, Seamus and Jerome. He was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, the eldest son of James and Mary O'Carroll. He graduated Dublin University with a degree in engineering. In the late 50's. he moved to Brooklyn NY and started his long successful career in telecommunications, retiring as a professional engineer under Lucent Technologies/Nokia . Michael was a kind, thoughtful and compassionate soul, known for his extraordinary intelligence. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, photography, skiing, sailing, reading and frequently traveled back to Ireland to visit family until he was unable. He will be missed dearly by all . The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Child Church, 4747 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY on Friday 11:00 a.m. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's Memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
