Michael John Oetjen, 61, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away at home on November 15, 2024 after a long courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma disease. He was born on February 15, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio to Paul and Ellona Oetjen. Michael enjoyed working on cars and computers, machining, and inventing. Mike was a fixer of broken things, including people. Mike is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 42 years, Kim; his daughter Danielle and her husband Steve; and Liz Kandle, along with her children, Breylin and Brooklynn Kandle, who were cherished as his grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Oetjen. Mike's warmth and wisdom extended far beyond his immediate family, as he was a beloved father figure to many, including Tyler Musial, Anna Nickum, and Jacque Tell. He is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Oetjen, and his parents, Paul and Ellona Oetjen, whose memories he held close throughout his life.. The family welcomes friends to join them for a memorial gathering on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Gateway Church, 12109 S. Reed Rd, Grafton, Ohio 44044, from 5pm to 6:30pm, with the memorial service beginning at 6:30. Pastor Dan Ghramm will officiate. Some family members are allergic to flowers and request that memorial contributions be made to the family, or the American Cancer Society.
