Michael F. Pillar, 80, died peacefully at St. Clair Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was born November 17, 1943, in Uniontown, PA, the son of John and Anna (Petrovic) Pillar.
Michael graduated from Mount Union High School in 1961. Following graduation, he got a Bachelor's degree in accounting from Robert Morris University. He served businesses and families as a CPA for nearly 60 years and loved working with all of his clients. Michael was a dedicated Servant of God and enjoyed serving as a lector and singing in the Chant Group at St. Gregory of Nazianzus Byzantine Catholic Church. He was also a loyal member of the Greek Catholic Union and the Byzantine Catholic Serra Club of Pittsburgh. He was passionate about his Carpatho-Rusyn heritage and enjoyed preserving family history and recipes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Dorothy) Pillar, William (Louise) Pillar, and Charles Pillar and sisters, Margaret Pillar, Helen (Nick) Kalafut, Anna (George) Utlak, and Joanne (Bob) Suffoletta. He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Nancy (Williams) Pillar, daughter Elizabeth Pillar-Little and son-in-law Tim Pillar-Little of Oklahoma City, OK, brother Robert Pillar, sister-in-law Mary Pillar, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, Peters Township (724-941-3211) on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Panachida service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Gregory of Nazianzus Byzantine Catholic Church in Upper St Clair at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024. In place of flowers, gifts in memory of Michael should be made to St. Gregory of Nazianzus Byzantine Catholic Church (https://www.stgregoryusc.org/).
