Michael Bruce Plitt Sr.

On March 14, 2024, Michael Bruce Plitt, Sr. (Mike); devoted husband of the late Nina Plitt (nee Murray), beloved father of Heather N. Plitt and her husband Erik Bailey, and Michael B. Plitt, Jr. and his wife Stephanie Plitt. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Murray Plitt-Bailey, Anna Plitt, and Joey Plitt, brother, Emory A. Plitt, Jr and his wife Judy Plitt, and sister-in-law, Marlene Murray. In addition to his wife Nina, he was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Catherine Plitt, his twin brother and best friend Dennis Plitt, and a sister-in-law, Joan Murray. He will also be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mike was born on March 30, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, and lived in the Baltimore County area for almost his entire life. He attended Ascension School, Cardinal Gibbons High School, and Loyola College (now Loyola University). He spent nearly all of his career in the Baltimore City Public School System, first as a teacher, then as vice principal and principal at Carver Vocational-Technical High School. He returned to teach at his alma mater Cardinal Gibbons for the last few years of his career before retiring in 2010. His love for his family was matched only by the love he had for his career as an educator, impacting the lives of countless students and co-workers. Mike's family would like to thank the staff at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital and Saint Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the care they provided to Mike in the last few months, and Mike's neighbors, Bill and Bobbi Jo Tayman for always looking out for Mike. Visitations will take place at Ambrose Funeral Home (1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Arbutus, Maryland 21227) on Saturday, March 23 from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held at the beginning of the 7-9 PM visitation.
