Michael Poehls Obituary
In loving memory of Michael Lee Poehls, who passed away on December 22, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering dedication. Michael was born on June 16, 1962, in Oakland, California, to Marvin and Shearry Poehls, and his life's journey was a testament to service, faith, and family.
Michael proudly served as a second-generation US Navy veteran, where amidst his duties, he encountered the love of his life, Carla Gallegos Poehls. Their union was one grounded in love of Jesus Christ, respect, and shared passion to run the race and obtain the price - Jesus, a partnership that endured and flourished over the years.
A pillar of strength and unwavering faith, Michael found solace and community within the embrace of his congregation at Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. His commitment to his faith was not only evident in his words but in the profound way he lived his life-a life shaped by his principles, kindness, and compassion.
His devotion to his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, and son was embraced in every aspect of his being. He was a guiding light, a source of wisdom and love for his family, offering unwavering support and encouragement.
Michael's legacy will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His genuine kindness, unwavering faith, and selflessness will be cherished and carried forward by those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Poehls; children, Sarah Finn (Caleb Lamb), Michael Poehls Jr. (Judy), Willk Marilao (Olga); grandchildren, Makenzi Poehls, Parker Merrideth, Ezekiel Finn, and Nika Marilao; and his father, Marvin Poehls.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery – Madison. Navy honors will be performed at the conclusion of committal services.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. -2 Timothy 4:7-8
