Michael Russell Obituary
03/18/1931 - 11/7/2023
Michael E. Russell, 92, of Maumee, OH, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Hospice in Toledo. Michael was born March 18, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Michael F. and Genevieve (Schobel) Russell. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Corporal in the Medical Battalion in the Korean War. Michael married Maureen Rigdon on June 30, 1956 and they shared 65 years together until she passed on May 14, 2022.
Michael worked as a general supervisor for Toledo Edison, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee and the Knights of Columbus. He was an amateur radio operator (K8RSU) and enjoyed rebuilding computers to donate to others in need.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannette (Gary) Gordon; and son, Erik (Catherine) Russell; grandchildren, Bryan, Anna and Nathaniel; and brothers, Edward Russell and John (Mari) Russell. Along with his wife, Maureen, Michael was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Russell; his parents; and brother, Paul (Karen) Russell.
Friends and family will be received Monday, November 13, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 801 Conant Street, Maumee (419-893-7686). A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.walkerfunealhomes.com.
