Michael J. Sahm, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 8, 2022 at his home. Michael was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Victor and Marie Sahm on June 14, 1949. Michael spent over 34 years as a Firefighter with the Indianapolis Fire Department, retiring from Station #15. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post #276 and a Veteran of the US Army. Michael is a long time member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove. He loved woodworking and watching John Wayne Westerns. Michael would give you the shirt off his back. He was a giver and loved life to the fullest.
Michael is survived by his sons; Matthew (Erica) Sahm and Mark (Hellen) Sahm, daughters; Michelle (Brian) Stanley, Stephanie (Robert) Stapert, Sara (Nick) Klindt and Mary (Billy) Dickson, grandchildren; James, Jonathon, Rachel, Hannah,(Isriel), Maggie, Declan, Isaac, Liam, Aiden, Chloe, Elijah, Oliver, Malcolm and Ruby, great-grandchildren; Remi, Boston and Emmett, along with his siblings; Vic (Ann) Sahm, Joann (Rich) Botkin, Larry (Janie) Sahm, Mary Jo (John) Perkins, Paul (Marianne) Sahm, Chris (Donna) Sahm and Charlie (Becky Frye) Sahm, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael is preceded in death by his loving wife; Suzy Hermann Sahm and grandson; Lincoln Matthew.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 3:00pm-7:00pm, with a brief firefighter tribute at 5pm at O’Riley Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove at 10:00am. Burial will be immediately following at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to “Christmas for Kids” through the American Legion Post # 276, 327 Main St., Beech Grove, Indiana 46107.
