Michael John Saxton, 65, of Waukee, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.
Michael was born on November 9, 1960, in Little Falls, Minnesota, to Gerald and Carol (Raveling) Saxton. He grew up in Randall, Minnesota, and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1979. He later attended Staples AVTI, earning a degree in Diesel Mechanics in 1981.
On June 7, 1987, Michael married Julie Bakker in Renville, Minnesota. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service.
Michael enjoyed golfing, watching races at Iowa Speedway, building Legos with his grandchildren, and spending time with his loved ones. He especially found joy in helping friends and family with car issues, always teaching them a thing or two along the way. For the past several years, Michael maintained and cared for the facilities and grounds at Lutheran Church of Hope Waukee, a role he chose in honor of his late father, who was also a faithful servant to the church.
Michael is remembered for his kind heart, quiet nature, and servant’s spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Saxton.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Julie Saxton of Waukee, Iowa; his children, Alyssa (Jonathan) Jasper of Urbandale, Iowa, and their children, Adalyn and Sawyer; Kayla (Jeremiah) Off of Raleigh, North Carolina, and their children, Lucy and Zeke; his mother, Carol Saxton; his sisters, Sherri (Howie) and Terri (John); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope Waukee on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a cause to be determined at a later date.
Michael’s faith, generosity, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family of Michael Saxton asks that floral arrangements not include lilies, as they have a sensitive member in the family. Your thoughtfulness is encouraged and appreciated.
