Michael Schmitz, 72, of Holts Summit, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

He was born in St. Louis on May 31, 1951 to the late Peter and Mary Ann (Dunn) Schmitz.  Mike was a graduate of Russellville High School.  On July 27, 1974, he married Rose Anne Kolb at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City.

While raising their three children, Tracy, Dana and Matthew in Jefferson City, Mike worked for Central Missouri Professional Services doing construction and surveying.  Mike always looked forward to deer and turkey season.  When he wasn’t hunting, you might find him working in his garden, fishing Crappie or searching for Spoonbill on the Osage River.   Mike enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling to the beach or mountains.  He was a Harley rider and he and Rose Anne enjoyed riding and sightseeing. 

Survivors include his wife, Rose Anne of Holts Summit, three children, Tracy Cunningham (Mike Ruble), Dana Mills (Danny) and Matthew Schmitz (Kacie) all of Jefferson City, ten grandchildren, Simone, Andrew, Noa, Ava, Lia, Mya, Audrey, Gavin, Damion and Jack, one sister, Jeannie Kauffman (Gary) of Olathe, KS, one brother, Keith Schmitz of New Bloomfield, sister-in-law, Becky Kennedy of Jefferson City and brother-in-law, Bill Kolb (Loretta) of Littleton, CO and his beloved border collie, Sadie. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Patrick Kennedy and mother and father-in-law, Charles and Mary Anne Kolb.

Private family services will be held.  Trimble Funeral Homes-Jefferson City is assisting the family with arrangements.  trimblefunerals.com
