Michael Sheplee was born on March 2, 1962, in Winnebago, MN, to Arden and Frances (Hoffman) Sheplee. He graduated with the Granada Huntley High School Class of 1980, and went on to further his education at Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute. Mike spent over two decades working in the financial field in the Twin Cities before returning to his roots.
On September 18, 1982, Mike married the love of his life, Amy Barnes, in Granada, MN. Their journey together was full of love, laughter, and deep faith. In 2006, they settled in Huntley, where Mike served the community as Martin County Deputy Assessor, and later as the Martin County Assessor.
Faith was at the center of Mike's life. He was a dedicated member and elder at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont and played a key role in founding Bethel Church in Madelia, where he continued to lead and serve. His heart for ministry extended beyond church walls-he partnered in the creation of Success Through Scriptures, an outdoor ministry for teenage boys, combining his love for the outdoors with his passion for mentoring young people.
Mike had many passions-gardening, farming, cheering on races at the Fairmont Raceway, was an Allis Chalmers enthusiast-but nothing brought him more joy than growing in his relationship with Jesus and spending time with his family, especially his beloved granddaughter, Haddie.
Mike's legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to others lives on in those who loved him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Amy; his children, Benjamin (Mindy) Sheplee and Kelsey (Brian) Lindh; his cherished granddaughter, Haddie Sheplee; his loving parents, Arden and Frances Sheplee; his sisters, Lori (Jim) Larson and Lisa Sheplee; his in-laws, Butch and Sue Barnes; sisters-in-law, Lori Barnes and Vicki Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was reunited in heaven with his infant son, Caleb, and his brother, Kurt Sheplee.
Mike's life was one marked by quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family and community, and loving people well. He will be deeply missed.
