Mr. Michael Jermaine Simmons (affectionately known as “Mikey”) came as a gift to us and the world on December 03, 2002. He was born and lived here in Las Vegas, Nevada until his untimely and unwarranted passing on July 9, 2025. He was only 22 years old which to us, his family and friends was much too soon!
“Mikey” grew up in a fun-filled, loud and busy household with his siblings Kentrell, Alarycc, Deshawn, DeVasia, Nashari, Nashanti, Keilani, Zavon, Zarimiah, Nevaeh and Isaiah. And if you know this crew, you know they were and are still a big ball of energy. In addition, as extended members of the family his friends Madison, Kizemon, Demari and Jacob were always in the mix of the fun and excitement.
Although taken away from us much too soon, “Mikey” accomplished a great deal of achievements we are so proud to share with you as part of his legacy. Not only was he an amazing son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend; above all, he was a devoted father and found great joy in being “Dad” to his daughter Myomei Simmons.
He graduated from Shadow Ridge High School in 2021 and his educational journey didn’t stop there! He continued on to perfect his passion as a barber and graduated from Expertise Cosmetology on October 19, 2023. Michael earned numerous trophies for Wrist Flicking, Culture Barber Camp; Beauty Expo, Wrist Flicking and Barber Fest 2024. He also has two medals for second place in 2021 for Wrist Flicking.
Prior to his passing, he worked faithfully at Faded Barbers. He enjoyed barber competitions, community events, football, and being a father. Michael was a skilled craftsman known for precise cuts and expert grooming. He was a pillar of the community. He was passionate, professional, reliable and consistent, hardworking and dedicated to getting things right. Man, are we going to miss you Mikey!
“Mikey” is survived by his parents, Mrs. Denise “Michelle” Porter-Rodgers (Mr. Nelson Rodgers) and Mr. Michael Simmons; grandparents Mrs. Shirley Porter and Mr. Charles Porter (preceded in death) and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin and Betty Simmons (both preceded in death). He is also survived by his niece Dariyah Simmons and cousins Miguel (preceded in death) Xavier, Aneatra, Little Al and a host of other family members and friends.
Michael will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
