Michael Francis Stewart, 72, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Michael was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, and spent most of his life living along the Jersey shore, but for the last 11 years called Green Bay, VA his home.
Mike grew up in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Hudson Catholic High School in 1971. In his youth he learned to play guitar, a passion that would continue for his whole life. Mike was a gifted musician who could play almost any instrument he picked up, but his favorite was guitar. While he wasn’t playing music, he found what would be his lifelong career as a Train Car Inspector for Amtrak and New Jersey Transit. He retired from New Jersey Transit in 2013. He enjoyed music, watching westerns and classic horror films, cooking, lighting up every room with his jokes, and spending time with his cats and loving family.
He will always be remembered for his lively sense of humor, passionate political beliefs, musical talent, and immense love for his family.
He is survived by his beloved daughters; Alissa Stewart and husband John of Drakes Branch, VA, Holly DeParto and husband Marc, and Jaime Hauser all of Green Bay, VA; his grandchildren, Nigel, Orion and Emmalia DeParto and Jayden, Gabriella and Adrianna Hauser; his sister Diane Ramirez and husband Manny of Florida; his nephew, Sean Stewart-Muniz and wife Alex; his extended family and friends.
Mike was the son of the late Adolph Stewart and Florence “Cookie” Forman; he was the former husband of the late Cynthia Stewart and was uncle of the late Christopher Stewart-Muniz.
