Michael Bret "Mikey" Stovall, of Waldorf, MD, born March 15, 1984 in Washington DC earned his Heavenly Wings on January 29, 2025. Affectionately loved and respected by everyone, Mikey passed away at the young age of 40.
Mikey was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, co-worker, and friend. His dedication to his wife Ashleigh, son Jake, and Labradors Gracie and Annie was unparalleled. His passions included hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and many other hobbies. He excelled at soccer and snowboarding throughout his childhood. Later, he developed strong connections with the outdoors, including his love for retrievers. More recently, he thrived as a compassionate baseball coach for Jake and his teammates. He loved the players as his own. Mikey's infectious spirit inspired friends and family to join in his pursuits.
For Mikey, the ultimate prize was his fellowship with Ashleigh, Jake, friends, and family. Jake and Mikey were inseparable while hunting. Ashleigh and Mikey were always together on a mountain, a beach, at a concert, or in the garden. Friends shared laughs over a harvested bounty. Mikey found joy in the simplest of things – a shark's tooth in the sand, a slope with fresh powder, a fist bump in the duck blind.
Mikey graduated from St. Mary's Ryken High School in Leonardtown, Maryland in 2002 and quickly followed in his father's footsteps as a Local #602 Steamfitter. After trade school, Mikey joined Gaghan Mechanical, a company where his father had helped establish the construction department 23 years earlier. Mikey was an accomplished welder, excelled in fieldwork, and ultimately became the company's Director of Field Operations. Mikey's superpower was his ability to lead people toward a common goal.
Mikey is survived by his loving wife Ashleigh and son Jake. He is also survived by his; Father "Pops" Mike Stovall, Mom Christina "Lovey" Stovall, Brother Bobby "Boo" Stovall, sister-in-law Chasity, and niece Evelyn, Great Aunt Beth Shaw Arizona, Aunt Donna and Uncle Ray Ray Moxley, Aunt Elizabeth "Liz" and Uncle Jerry Williamson (SC) and cousins, Aunt Susan "Sue" and Uncle Archie Rodgers (SC) and cousins, Aunt Pamela Blackledge, Arizona and cousins, and countless other cousins too, Mother-in law Debra "Debbie" and Father-in-law Timothy "Tim" Gunnell, Brother-in-law David and sister-in-law Dominique Gunnell.
