Michael Stringer Obituary
Michael Duane Stringer, affectionately known as Mikey, was born on April 15, 1975, to Cheryl Reynolds and Logan T. Stringer, Jr., in Hartford, CT. He transitioned from this life into his eternal rest on December 31, 2024, at the age of 49.
Michael attended Hartford Public Schools, where his natural athleticism and strong personality was evident. A passionate lover of basketball and football, he not only enjoyed playing but also cheered wholeheartedly as a fan. From a young age, Michael was a die-hard, lifelong fan and collector of all things Michael Jordan. His admiration for the basketball legend was reflected in his own dedication, drive, and love for the game.
However, Michael's greatest passion was playing the drums, a talent he discovered as a child playing in church for many well-known gospel artists. His love for the drums, he carried with him throughout his life. His rhythm was the essence of his spirit, spreading joy to those who listened and offering solace to his own soul.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Logan T. Stringer, Jr.; his cherished grandmother, Mother Katherine D. Reynolds; his grandfather, Arthur Reynolds Jr.; his beloved aunt, Robin Reynolds; and his devoted uncles, Kevin Reynolds, Arthur Reynolds, and Jacques Deullarde. Their unwavering love and faith shaped the man he became.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted mother, Cheryl Reynolds, whose steadfast love was his anchor. Michael is survived by his children: Kyara Duke, Willie Duke, Jr., Ashawnee Duke, and Deikwon Duke, who carry forward his legacy of strength and resilience. His precious grandchildren-Johnyah Duke (Pookie Bear), Jahmir Duke (Jah), Saleigha Woodson (Lulu), King Hill (King King), Leah Oates (LeLe), and Kyari Oates (Smooshie), Summer Wilson-Duke, Noah Wilson - Duke, Layanie Wilson- Duke, Elijah Duke, -were the light of his life.
Michael's memory will also be cherished by his beloved brothers, Logan Stringer, III (Trina), Joseph Stringer, James Wilson, his sisters Cheryl Stringer, Sheila Stringer, his baby sisters, Ondrea Griffin (Gregory), and Oneeka Young (Laundre). He also leaves behind a devoted uncle, Zachary Reynolds (Patricia), a precious aunt, Jennifer Reynolds, a special uncle, Sterling Davis (Beulah) also a host of many loving aunts, uncles, nieces whom he loved Khiana Stringer (Noonie), Khalis Stringer (Red), and Riley Griffin (Pooh) nephews Dozier Huntley (Doe), and Kailon Amari Young (Nephew), sibling cousins, cousins, godbrothers, godsisters, special friends Choco Rosario and Keevis Mcghee and friends who will deeply miss his warm presence and unwavering loyalty.
Michael touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and strength. His enduring passions, from sports to music, and his love for family and friends will forever be remembered.
His funeral will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, with a calling hour beginning from 9:30 – 10:30 AM followed by a Home Going Service beginning at 10:30, all held at the Macedonia Church, 213 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield.
