Michael "Mike" Lee Summers, 74, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville where a Memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Cremation rights will be observed.
Mike was born in Evansville on February 9, 1949 to Herbert "Mutt" Summers and Anna Goelzhauser Summers. He married Patricia "Patty" Louise Newton on March 19, 1976 in Springfield, Tennessee. She survives. Also surviving are their three children, Margaret "Cindy" McKibben (Clint) of Evansville, Joseph Summers (Candace) of Wapella, Illinois, and Thomas Summers (Allie Rogers) of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Samuel Lyden (Adrienne Eades), Fletcher Crowley (Justice), Emilie Crowley, and Charles McKibben; and one great grandson, Booker Crowley; two brothers, Stephen Summers (Connie) and Ronald (Donna). He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1967. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with Mine Division 113. Upon returning home to Evansville, he began working at Keller Crescent Company retiring in 2005 as a First Pressman. During that time, he was member of the Graphic Communication/International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 571-M. Also, during that time, he earned a 2-year Associates Degree from Lockyear's Business College in Evansville.
Mike was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He always looked forward to the annual running of the Indianapolis 500. He loved a good NASCAR race and his favorite pastime, horse racing. The Aku Tiki Inn in Daytona Beach, Florida was always his choice destination for a vacation, and he made many trips down there over the years with his family.

A devoted husband of 47 years. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be missed.
