Michael A "Mike" Suter

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Aaron Suter, 45 of Madison, Wisconsin, on December 16th, 2024. Mike was born on July 11th, 1979 in Lake Forest Illinois, to Samuel and Jean Suter, joining his big sister Tasha. He grew up with his family in Libertyville, Illinois and graduated from Libertyville High School in 1997. He attended Northern Illinois University from 1997-2001, and graduated with a double major in English and philosophy. Mike moved to Madison in 2001 and lived downtown until buying a house there in 2008. Throughout his time in Madison, in addition to property management, Mike worked in the trades as a carpenter for commercial companies and private clients. He met his wife, Rachel Weishan, in Madison in 2014, they began dating in 2016, and were married in January of 2021.
Mike was an avid lover of nature, carpentry, his cat (Rajia), history, and literature. He was a huge fan of Chicago sports, and loved the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He easily made friends due to his quick-witted sense of humor, his ability to share his knowledge, and his kind soul. Memories of Mike will forever be cherished and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is loved by his wife, Rachel Weishan of Madison, Wisconsin, parents, Samuel and Jean Suter of Grayslake, Illinois, his big sister, Natasha (Ryan) Schoolman of Arlington, Virginia, and his cousin Matthew (Janette) Engelbrecht of Swannanoa, North Carolina.
