Michael S. Svehla, 64, of North Reading, MA, formerly of Lexington, KY, passed away on October 25, 2024.
Born on July 1, 1960, Michael was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1978. During his high school years, he developed his love for sports, often attending games and events, which became a lifelong passion. Fondly known as "Goobs" to many, Mike was a friend to everyone and brought joy to those around him.
A devoted sports enthusiast, Mike had a lifelong passion for University of Kentucky basketball and all New England sports teams. He was especially proud of his extensive baseball card collection, a hobby he cherished for many years.
Mike was known and loved by the North Reading community for his unwavering dedication to local sports. You could find him at most North Reading High School sports events, showing up 'rain or shine' to support his teams. He loved being on the Hornet sidelines. A true Hornet superfan, his determination, stamina, and his commitment to cheering on the kids were unmatched.
Mike is predeceased by his parents, William & Patricia (Sweeney) Svehla; his brothers, Robert & Richard Svehla; and his sister, Carol (Svehla) Morrissey. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Philip Morrissey, and his nieces, Rachel Morrissey and Brenna Morrissey Kressler.
A private service will be held to honor Mike's life. In his memory, his family asks that you attend a local sports event and cheer as Mike always did-with enthusiasm, heart, and unwavering support for the players.

I´m so sorry to hear about the passing of Michael.
If there was a game at the field, you could always find Michael in his lawn chair taking the game in, no matter what the weather was. Although he isn´t there physically, his spirit will remain on the sidelines, cheering our kids on.
-With peace, Katherine F.
