Michael Jay Tackett

Michael Jay Tackett, 72, husband of Lynda Tackett, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at his home in Stamping Ground. He was born January 28, 1951, in Georgetown to the late Jay and Joyce Tackett. He was a 1969 graduate of Scott County High School, and was a farmer, he bred, raced, and trained thoroughbred horses, worked at Schenley Distillery, and enjoyed working his cattle, playing fastpitch softball, and being on the farm. His greatest joy was his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ross Tackett, sisters, LeAnne Tackett, Patricia Tackett, mother and father-in-law, Walter and Flo Goble, niece, Julie Sears, nephew, J. Charles Vallandingham, sister-in-law, Brenda McKenzie, brothers-in-law, Davis Goble, and Park Tackett.
Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Lynda Goble Tackett, Stamping Ground, son, Cliff Tackett, Stamping Ground, Andrew (Whitney) Tackett, Stamping Ground, niece, Cassidy Stidham, Georgetown, brother and sisters-in-law, Ginger (Danny) Glass, Georgetown, John Goble, Georgetown, Lee Dell (Oney) Vanlandingham, Georgetown, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Sam Glenn officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery, Stamping Ground where pallbearers will be John Scott Gibbons, Sean Gibbons, Cole Swartz, Graham Swartz, Taylor Berryman, Preston Berryman, Judd Highley, Wyatt Highley, Owen Highley, Parker Vanlandingham, Hayden Kirby, and Will Rich. Honorary pallbearers will be Oney Vanlandingham, Danny Glass, Gene McKenzie, John Goble, Larry Tackett, Ray Hisle, Austin McKenzie, Craig Campbell, Andrew Tackett, Scott Sears, and Arthur Rader.
