Michael Anthony Torres

Bakersfield - Mike A.Torres, a dedicated son, husband, dad, grandfather, friend and man of faith
joined the love of his life Socorro in the presence of the Lord on December 6, 2024 in
Bakersfield CA. He was 63 years old.
Michael was born January 3, 1961 in Bakersfield, California. To Carmen and Fred
Torres.
Mike was raised in Bakersfield CA, where he attended elementary, junior high and graduated
from Highland School in 1979.
In 1982 Mike met the "love of his life" Socorro. In April of 1983 they married and from
that day forward the focus was to start a family and wasted no time. In October of 1983 Michael
Jr was born followed by Daniel in 1985, Gabriel in 1987 and Samuel in 1990.
In the 35 years of marriage to Socorro and raising a family there were medical struggles
from his children to his beloved wife Socorro. Through all the struggles he relied on his faith to
stay strong for his family. In the 90's Mike and Socorro began teaching CCD at St. Joseph
Church along with being highly involved with volunteering at the church as well.
In 1981, Mike began his career in the oil industry as a welder for R.H Ryke working
alongside his father Fred. In the Mid 2000's Mike's sons Michael, Daniel and Gabriel were given
the opportunity to not just work in the same industry and become welders like their dad but work
for the same company as well (Truitt OMC).
As a welder Mike held himself to very high standards and among his peers he consisted
to be one of the best at his trade. Mike was very passionate about being a welder which carried
over to his co-workers that worked alongside him. "Be the best at what you do and take pride in
your work, whether it be running the job or raking rocks be the best at it!"
Preceded in death by his wife, Socorro Torres, father Fred Torres.
He was survived by his mother Carmen Torres, Sons, Michael (Jessica),
Daniel(Veronica), grandsons, Carson, Bennett, Dylan, Gabriel(Kaila), granddaughters Elliott,
Brielle, grandsons, Bentley, Brantley, son, Samuel Torres
Viewing service and Rosary will be held Thursday, Dec 26 at Greenlawn Mortuary Northeast
3700 River Blvd in Bakersfield, CA.
Rosary will start at 630pm
Viewing Hours 4pm to 8 pm
Funeral Service will be held Friday Dec 27 at 930am at St. Joseph Catholic Church on 1515
Baker St, Bakersfield CA.
Burial will be followed immediately at Greenlawn Mortuary Northeast
Reception will be held at The American Legion, 2020 H St following Conclusion of burial
Services.
