Michael was my childhood best friend when we were growing up on East 81st street in Manhattan. We explored Carl Shulz Park as if it were our own secret country all day long when school was out. We watched Walt Disney World together on TV, marveling at the joy of it all. We threw pennies in the toilet, daring each other to take them out. He made my life such fun. When we were 10 his parents moved the family out to Syosset and we were able to visit a few times but a few months later we moved to New Jersey and later learned his parents were divorced. I think of him often and as long as I am still alive, he will be alive in my memories. As a recent widow, my heart goes out to you.
