Michael Trueblood Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Twiford Funeral Homes - Elizabeth City on Mar. 31, 2026.
Michael Wayne Trueblood, age 69, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Born in Pasquotank County, NC, on August 29, 1956, to the late Jack Donald Trueblood, Sr. and Kay Tarkington Trueblood, he was the husband of Judy Dorsey Trueblood, his wife of 51 years.

Michael was the kind of man who couldn't sit still for long. If something was broken, he was already fixing it. His family always called on him when they needed help. He truly was the glue that held everything together.

Most mornings, you could find him exactly where he was happiest, out at the Little Island Fishing Pier in Sandbridge, rod in hand, waiting on the next bite. And when it came, you would hear him yelling, "Fish on!"

Whether he was building, painting, or tinkering with something, he always found joy in it. He had a big kid spirit, full of laughter, smiles, and a light that everyone around him could feel.

Michael leaves behind his loving wife, Judy; his daughter, Michelle Trueblood Winslow and her husband, Kelly; his grandchildren, Caden and Carly Hunter; his step-granddaughter, Alyssa Winslow; two sisters, Janice Cullipher and her husband, Bert, and Jean Keen; his brother, Donald Trueblood and his wife, Debbie; his sister-in-law, Rita Trueblood; and his brother-in-law, Michael Chesson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Trueblood; his sister, Jacqueline Chesson; and his brother-in-law, Kenny Keen.

His family will continue to carry all of the great memories and the many things he taught them.

No formal service will be held at this time. The family will gather on May 19, 2026, at Little Island Fishing Pier, 3820 Sandpiper Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456 to honor his life, allowing his grandson to be present for this special remembrance. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join. Please arrive at 5:30 a.m., bring a fishing rod, and cast a line at sunrise (5:53 a.m.) in his honor, rain or shine.

Twiford Funeral Homes, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, is assisting the Trueblood family. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
