Obituary for Michael Gregory Tucker
Born on February 2, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts, Michael was raised in the heart of Roxbury by his loving parents, Ruby and Billy Tucker. A proud graduate of Boston High, Michael returned to school later in life to attend Roxbury Community College, where he majored in Criminal Justice. His dream was to become a probation officer, with the goal of helping young people find better paths and make lasting change from within the system. Although he didn't get the chance to officially step into that role, his life's work reflected that same mission every single day.
Throughout his life, Michael worked hard and wore many hats-holding positions at a local hospital, at New Balance, and as a dedicated community worker. But among all the roles he carried, none meant more to him than being a father. Michael took great pride in raising his children and was fully committed to being present, loving, and supportive every step of the way. He led with patience, taught by example, and made sure his children knew they were his greatest purpose.
He also poured that same love into his community. As a coach and mentor, Michael dedicated himself to guiding young people with care and consistency. He believed deeply in second chances, in self-growth, and in the potential of every young life he touched.
Michael had a deep love for books and was rarely seen without one in hand. Reading wasn't just a hobby-it was a part of who he was. Books fueled his mind, brought him peace, and reflected his lifelong pursuit of knowledge and reflection.
His passion for sports and love of family ran deep. He is survived by his beloved children: Michael Myers, Candra Myers, Jerome Myers, and Latoya Myers; and his cherished grandchildren: Lilly Pitts, Michael Myers Jr., and Jordan Moore. He also leaves behind his siblings: Steven (Sharon Tucker), William, Christopher (Patrina Tucker), Sharon Tucker, Patrina Tucker, Nicole McDonald, Simone McDonald, and Shawn McDonald; and his god-sisters: Crystal Ayler and Christine Ayler.
He is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews who admired and looked up to him, including Steven Jr., William Jr., Christopher Jr., Cole, Kyle, Jazmyne, Cleo, and Joi-Nicole.
Michael's legacy is one of fatherhood, mentorship, strength, compassion, and quiet wisdom. He led with love, lived with purpose, and left behind a community forever better because of him.
Rest in power, Michael. You were one of one.
