Michael L. Valletta

Sadly, Michael L. Valletta, 97, of Carmel, NY passed away on March 8, 2022.
Michael was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Vito and Louisa Valletta. After graduating from high school, Michael received his Bachelors of Science Degree from St. John's University in Queens, NY. Michael married Carmela DeTurris on December 17, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY and they were blessed with three children.
Michael was a proud veteran and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked as a Chemist for New York Produce Exchange until he retired in 1984. He was a devoted husband and father and his family and children meant everything to him. He was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan and was passionate about music. He played the drums and keyboard and played in a band until he was 92 years old. At 97, on the day he passed, he did what he loved most; he played the keyboard at the Senior Center in Carmel. He was a member of the American Legion (102467635), the American Society for Testing Materials, and the Carmel Senior Center.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Carmela, of more than 75 years who passed away in 2019 and his son Michael Valletta who passed away in 2013. Michael is survived by his dear children, Robert Valletta and his wife Carol, Joseph Valletta and his wife Linda and his daughter-in-law, Marie Valletta. Michael also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren, Mikey, Lindsay, Bobby, Richie, Kelly and Megan. His two brothers, Anthony Valletta and Rudolph Valetta also predecease him.
Visitation and a Celebration of Michael's life will both be held on the same day, Friday, March 11, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.
The Celebration of Life and Prayer service, to honor Michael, will take place at 6:00 P.M., with U.S. Army Honors at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc.
A private cremation will take place following the service.
