Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Michael Van Roosendaal, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025. Born on March 26, 1946, to Arien Van Roosendaal and Jane Henrietta Springer, Michael's life was marked by his exceptional musical talent and dedication to family and faith.
Michael demonstrated a remarkable gift for music from a young age, beginning piano at just four years old. His ability to play any song after hearing it only once was unmatched. He composed and performed his own music, bringing joy to many with his lively performances and dry sense of humor. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served the church for decades, playing both the organ and piano.
In addition to his musical talents, Michael was an avid reader and often expressed his happiness through whistling. He married Barbara Jane Bourne in the Salt Lake Temple on March 15,1968, sharing a loving partnership that spanned over five decades.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Arien and Jane, his brothers Arien, Robert, Gerald, Richard, & David, and his sisters Luella and Carolyn. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, his children Traci (Bryan) Smith, Annette (David) Clegg, Michael, and Thomas (Georgia) Van Roosendaal, his grandchildren Justin, Taylor, Grace, Austin, Jordan, Willa, Noah, Brad, Carson, and Estelle, and his great-grandchildren Abigail, Jackson, Phoebe, and Piper. He is also survived by his brother Garth (Sherrie) Van Roosendaal.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals, as well as the ward members and neighbors, who provided support and care during Michael's final years.
