Michael Vasiliou

Michael Vasiliou of Jamesville passed away November 15, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born August 16, 1938 in Kato Ydrousa, Florina, Greece, he migrated to Canada in 1956, coming to the United States in 1964. He was employed by Frazer & Jones for 36 years as a welder and mechanic. A devoted family man, he was loved and respected by all who knew him. He valued the special relationships he had with everyone he met, especially his nieces, nephews and extended family. His passions in life included his garden and meticulous care and upkeep of his cars. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Petros and Roda Vasiliou, and two sisters, Anna Christou and Velika Christou. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sofia, daughters Mary (Darren) Mangovski, Vicky (Richard) Boswell, son Tommy (Michaline) Vasiliou, sister Helen Christou, brother Pantelis (Olga) Velliou, brother and sister in laws Maria (Vasilios) Peios and George (Aliki) Anastasiou. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Saint Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd. Syracuse. Burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church.
