Michael Warren Walton

Michael Warren Walton (Mike) was a loving husband, father, and brother. He would have celebrated his fiftieth wedding anniversary this summer. He loved family vacations to national parks and our river cruise in France. Mike was born in San Antonio and moved to Corpus Christi as a young child. He was an Army veteran having served in Vietnam during the war. Like so many others that moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, he decided to settle in Austin after graduation.
He was a brilliant and talented software engineer and worked for one company his entire career. He was a prolific reader of history and science fiction and a staunch Democrat. Especially popular with animals, Mike was a cat magnet.
He fought cancer for over sixteen years with the help of great medical professionals. Special thanks go to Dr. Robert Amato, Dr. Julie Rowe, and Dr. Michael Kasper. Along the way, he used his great sense of humor to make each treatment and medical encounter easier for all. Our family is very grateful to all of the members of his kind and compassionate hospice care team, but especially to Vicki Hanna and Leticia Spencer.
His parents, Edward Spencer Walton and Lily Lola McAdon Walton, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Carol Sue Robertson Walton, daughter Alexandra Leigh Walton, son Spencer Robertson Walton, brothers William (Bill) Walton, Stephen Walton, sister-in law Mary Walton, and several nieces and nephews. A private family memorial is planned.
