Michael Joe Watkins

Michael (Mike) J. Watkins, 63, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Mike was born January 28, 1959 in Sacramento, California to Darrell and Martha Jo Watkins. Mike's family moved with the military to many different places in Alaska, Texas, and their home spot in Oklahoma. He was married to Fonda Swank on June 16, 1990 in Dalhart, Texas. They made their home in Oklahoma and he began his career at the United States Post Office for the last 27 plus years. They enjoyed long road trips to the mountains on the motorcycle, working out together, and filling their time with their children's activities.
Mike and Fonda were blessed with two children, Alisha and Kyle Watkins. He always took his family to church every Sunday morning; ensuring he led his family in Christ. Mike played football with Kyle in the front yard and watched Alisha play all her sports any chance he got. He always wanted to take his family hiking, go on long motorcycle rides, and visit the mountains. Mike's hobbies were working out and competing as a power lifter. He loved Reese's peanut butter cups and pecan pie. His wife and kids were his life, and he loved leading them, providing for them, and watching them succeed in any and all aspects of their lives.
Alisha Watkins married Nick Jones in 2011, and gave him 3 beautiful grandchildren: Emma, Kyah, and Coleston Jones. Kyle Watkins married Stefanie Hibler in 2015 and gave him 3 more grandchildren: Lauren, Francine, and Astor Watkins. He loved his grandbabies. He played Barbies, watched recitals, and read books to his granddaughters. He gifted his grandsons with engraved rifles and couldn't wait to be able to play football and wrestle with them.
Mike Watkins was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Watkins, and brother, Gregory Watkins.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Jo Watkins; loving wife of 32 years, Fonda; daughter, Alisha Jones and husband Nick; son, Kyle Watkins and wife Stefanie; grandchildren, Emma Lauren, Kyah, Coleston, Francine, and Astor.
Viewing will be Saturday 10am-8pm with family present from 5-7pm. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Christ's Legacy Church.
