Michael Richard Welch, 33, of Fulton, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2025.
He was born on February 9, 1992, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Michael was the beloved son of the late Michael Welch and Elizabeth Ali (Robinson) Ledford.
Michael dedicated his professional life to public service, working as a Corrections Case Manager III at the Fulton Diagnostic Reception Center. He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School in 2011 and was known by his colleagues for his integrity, compassion, and steadfast commitment to his work.
From the very start he stole hearts with his handsome face, beautiful eyes, and mischievous personality. As he grew up with his brother Mark, he used to hate how he would always emulate him following him wherever he went. He loved to play video games with Mark and his friends, cards, corn hole and most of all frisbee golf. He introduced the latter to his brother Mark who
now carries on the passion for this sport. He also loved to cook on his beloved blue grill and often made meals with his Fulton friends / family. Michael also loved weapons and had several that he owned and customized. His favorites were his Glock and his AR-15.
Michael will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering support of those he cared about. His presence in the lives of his family, friends, and coworkers will be deeply missed.
Those that remain to cherish Michael's memory are his mother, Elizabeth Ali Ledford; brother, Mark Welch (Lindsay Swan); sister, Shelby "Alex" Ledford; maternal grandmother, Marie Robinson; aunts; Nikky Dziedzic (Richard), Heather Hatfield (Justin), Tiffany Trager (John), Camille Gordon (Mark); uncles, Joseph Welch, Patrick Welch (Brandi); niece, Emily Ann Welch;
maternal cousins, Harper, Isabella, and Juliette Dziedzic, Kelsey Hatfield, Kirsten Sims, Megan Trainor, Morgan Sims; paternal cousins, Teresa Fassetta, Rachel and Joshua Gordon, Callen and Kensie Welch; along with his Fulton and FRDC Family, Katie Zuroweste, Fancy Wemhoff, Whitney McClellan, Marylin and Dennis Pellham, Shannon Hapgood, Rob Duncan, Ryan & Cherise Knight, Victoria Stone, Joe Mundwiller, John Geldner, Fred Wisher, and Chrissy Buxton.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael Welch; maternal grandfather, Richard Robinson; paternal grandparents, Richard "Dick" Welch and Mary "Tan" Welch, along with a nephew born into arms of Jesus, Mason Welch.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Maupin Funeral Home with Chaplain Christopher McElroy officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
