Michael L. Welter, 72 of Sioux City passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024. Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family services are being held.
Mike was born the son of LeRoy and Rose (Hoffman) Welter on December 15, 1951 in Le Mars, Iowa. He graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1970. Mike married Marilyn Kiertzner on August 27, 1977. They made their home in Sioux City and enjoyed 47 years together.
Mike was a salesman for Metz Baking Company for 37 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and riding bicycle. He worked at a bakery in high school and became a wonderful baker. His banana bread was a family favorite.
Mike is survived by his wife, Marilyn Welter; sons, Brandon (Lynette) Welter and Mitchell (Ashlyn) Welter; grandchildren, Kalie and Marley Welter; siblings, Karen Eaton, Ron Welter, and Mary (Richard) Vondrak; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet; and brother-in-law, Dennis.
