Michael Nelson Wilkin of Pauline, SC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 51. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on December 19, 1972 to Karen and Tom Wilkin.
Mike moved to Toledo, OH as a child, and then to Spartanburg, SC as a teenager. He joined the United States Army after high school and served his country for four years. He then went on to join Trelleborg Corporation, where he worked for 30 years. Mike loved the Ohio State University and University of South Carolina football teams and enjoyed trips to Columbia with his wife and family for football games.
Mike was a graduate of Dorman High School (Class of 1992), where he first encountered Tracie. They reunited in September of 2011, and have been together ever since. Mike loved his family, the home they built together, and the life he lived. He enjoyed sitting by the fire-pit he built in the back yard and spending time in the pool he built with Tracie. Mike made a point of traveling somewhere new with Tracie every year, and they both treasured the adventure.
He leaves behind many who will miss him, including his parents; his wife of 10 years, Tracie O’Neal Powell; children, Riley, Cameron, Aidan and Ellie; brothers, Kyle Wilkin, Andy Wilkin, and Greg Wilkin; brothers-in-law, Tony Powell (Mary) and Tim Powell (Missy), who were like his siblings; mother-in-law, Peggy Parrott; and father-in-law, Jerry Powell. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Elmer and Eva Wilkin, Margaret Anderson and Robert Fournier; and his father-in-law, Bob Parrott.
Visitation will be 2:00-3:30pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Bethel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00pm, conducted by Rev. Brad Gray.
In honor of Mike, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church.
