Michael Arthur Wittmann, 75, died peacefully at his home in Peoria, AZ, on September 14, 2025.
Mike was born June 12, 1950, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to Ludwig and Amelia Wittmann. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1968 and obtained a business degree from UW-Whitewater. He moved to the Chicago, IL area, where he began working for Amity Leather Products as a salesman for the Rolfs line of leather goods. He later became an independent sales agent for a variety of products.
While living in Chicago, he met Janet Schiefelbein, the love of his life. The two were married on September 30, 1978, in Lombard, IL. Mike and Jan eventually settled in Aurora, IL. In 2013, they moved to Peoria, AZ, and enjoyed their retirement, which included golfing and traveling around the United States, visiting family and friends.
Mike was an avid golfer, playing in many leagues and tournaments. He enjoyed golfing with Jan and friends from the Wisconsin area who came down in the winter to live or visit.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jan, who died September 11, 2025; his parents; his in-laws Ralph and Shirley Schiefelbein; his sister-in-law Patti Hornstra; and many aunts, uncles, and friends.
He is survived by brothers Steven (Mary), Donald (Cathy), and James (Mary). He is further survived by nieces Brenda (Bryon) Williams, Jill Hanson; nephews Matthew (friend Cassie), Bryan (Molly), and Tyler (Shae); ten grandnieces and one grandnephew, all very special to him; and many cherished friends with whom they enjoyed getting together.
The family would like to especially thank the many friends who brought meals over or provided transportation and comfort for both Mike and Jan. Your friendship meant so much.
