Michael William Zirbes passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on November 16, 2024, at the age of 74.
He was born August 14, 1950, in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Clarence (Red) Zirbes and Patricia (Marcou) Zirbes. They moved to Rochester, Minnesota when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1969. He then went on to Vocational School for Accounting and graduated in 1972. He then married Carol Eggers on July 7, 1973. They welcomed three boys, Matt, Brad and Eric. He worked at Days Inn as a Night Auditor and retired in 2018.
Mike loved to watch sports. He was in a bowling league for years. He was active in his kids' sports. He enjoyed going for coffee every morning at Grandma's Kitchen and would walk around Silver Lake. His grandchildren were Grandpa's Angels.
He is survived by his wife Carol Zirbes; sons Matt (Tina), Brad (Tracey), and Erik (Val); mother Patricia Zirbes; sister Rhonda (Mike) Franken; brother David Zirbes; grandchildren Isabella (Jordan), Eli (Mercedes), Justin, Kaylee (Hayden), Devon (Jennifer), Ryan; great grandchildren Mason, Masie, Marlee and one great grandson on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, Minnesota.
