Mr. Melton retired after 37 years from Canadian National Railroad (Illinois Central) as a Conductor.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diana Melton; two sons, Michael (Sarah) Melton Jr. of Elgin, OK, Jody (Christy) Melton of Paducah; one daughter, Tracy (Daniel) Jameson of Hardin, KY; two brothers, Joe (Mary) Melton of Owensboro, Michael J. (Jana) Melton of Benton, KY; three sisters, Carolyn Melton (Bill) Young of Paducah, Lynn Turner of Owensboro, Debbie (Don) LaGrange of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren, Hannah (Keith) Boyd, Ella Melton, Ryan Mitchell, Keylee Ranabargar, Clayton Ranabarger, Jacob Melton, Blake Melton, Caleb Melton, Ashlyn Jameson, Braxton Jameson; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ottis Melton and Ellie Rhea (Thomas) Melton; sister, Johnnie Moss.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Rev. Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
