Michelle Charlet Cooper

Michelle Charlet Cooper passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 55, after a courageous battle with cancer. Michelle was born in Marrero, Louisiana to Wayne and the late Lucille Charlet. Beloved wife of Mark Cooper for 17 years. Best big sister to Troy Charlet. Loving and proud mother to her only son Derek Genusa (Katie), stepmother to Brandon Cooper, and the most amazing GiGi to her only grandson, Liam Genusa. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.

Michelle worked at Jefferson Financial Credit Union for 28 years as a senior loan officer. She touched the lives of everyone she met, to know her was to love her. Michelle was loving, caring, and most of all a very selfless person when it came to helping others. She loved to take fabulous vacations, girls’ trips, cousin’s weekends, and shopping trips. However, her true passion was spending time with her family. Michelle was one of a kind and is irreplaceable in our hearts. She was well respected and loved by all that she met. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

We will cherish all our memories with her and relish in the moment that we will see her again.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, Louisiana 70072 on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11am with visitation from 9am to 11am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 3500 LA-1, Raceland, Louisiana, 70394. A Celebration of Life will follow the Interment at The Four Columns, 3711 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA 70058.
