Bruce "Mickey" Mitchell McNeese, age 81, of Cohutta, departed this life Friday, March 13, 2026, at the local hospital.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Ellen Myers McNeese; parents, Bruce and Minnie Morgan McNeese; sister, Judy Frost; and brothers, Joe McNeese and Hoyt McNeese.

Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a highly decorated soldier during the Vietnam conflict. During his military service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal and several Purple Hearts.

Following his military service, Bruce worked for many years as a welder and fabricator with Perpetual Machine, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft.

He is survived by his son, Brian and Kyrihe McNeese of Cohutta; sisters, Ruth McNeese of Dalton and Daisie Bruce of Dalton; sister-in-law, Betty McNeese and dear friend Loretta Dills; his beloved fur baby, Millie; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mickey will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. from the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home, with Marty Johnson providing the eulogy and Pastor Matt Laskey providing words of comfort.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the food pantry at the Varnell Church.
