Micki Diane Lear Mothersbaugh, 64, of Warrensburg MO, passed away at Lee's Summit Medical Center on July 4, 2025. She was born in Sedalia MO, on July 23, 1960, the oldest daughter of Harold Lee Lear and Janice (McCubbin) Lear. She grew up in Warsaw MO and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1978. After graduation, she made her home in Coal MO then later moved to Clinton MO. Here, she held several jobs, including Activity Director at a nursing home and later as Cook for the Clinton School District, which was perfect as it allowed her to keep an eye on her boys as they grew. By far her favorite job was tending to the farm she lovingly named Goat Mountain. The farm life allowed her to indulge her lifelong love for animals, gardening, cooking and country living. Whether she was making her famous red pickles that she gave as Christmas gifts, working up 30 dozen ears of corn, hosting large summer cookouts and fall hayrides for family or just simply being a farm mom, it was here she found her happy place. Over the years Micki had a multitude of pets including her cat Emma, a ferret, her pig Midge and many dogs including Peanut and Babe, but she held a special place in her heart for her dog Mae who was able to see when Micki needed help and would do what was needed to assist. Due to this uncanny ability, Mae was authorized as a service dog and it was Mae's abilities that helped Micki stay on the farm as long as possible. While in her 30's, and knowing her health would decline in the future, she was determined to travel as much as possible while able. She took many trips to Las Vegas, Jamaica and other destinations, but she was most proud to have spent several days attending a National Ataxia Foundation seminar in Ohio that was focused on promoting medical advancements and understanding of Ataxia including her specific type, Machado Joseph Disease. After leaving the farm she moved to Warrensburg MO, where she made many friends and was thankful to be able to live on her own. Micki is survived by her sons Vincent Mothersbaugh of California and Victor Mothersbaugh of Warrensburg MO. Her sister Mika Barth (Ben) of Evansville IN, brother Dustin Lear (Lynn) of Warsaw Mo, niece Sydney Hoagland (Christian) of Clinton MO and many aunts, uncles, friends and family. A private burial will be held at Kinkead Cemetery in Warsaw MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation. (www.ataxia.org) Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and that she was known for her strong spirit, big heart and unwavering love for those she held dear.
