Micky Elvis Filson, better known as Mick, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the age of 52. He was surrounded by love—his devoted wife, daughters, sisters-in-law, and nephew by his side in his final moments.
Mick was born on July 18, 1973, in Maryville, Missouri, to Larry Filson and Theresa Bix. He moved to California at the age of 5. He attended grade and middle school and West High School in Torrance graduating with the Class of 1992.
A man of many talents, Mick worked in a variety of fields throughout his life, including retail, electrical work, and management at Kohl’s, before finishing his career at Costco. But he was best known for his remarkable skills as a handyman. Whether it was a small fix or a major project, Mick approached every task with passion and precision. He loved working with his hands, building things from the ground up, and tackling challenges.
Mick had a larger-than-life personality—loud, full of laughter, and always ready with a helping hand. Beneath his bold exterior was a heart of gold. He deeply loved his family and leaves behind a legacy of generosity, strength, and warmth.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Muñoz; his daughters, Lauren Filson of Utah, Kimberly Ramirez Muñoz of Gardena, and Brianna Muñoz Filson of Wilmington; his cherished grandchildren, Bella, Olivia, Evelina, Gabriela, Maverick, Kane, and newborn Teddy; and his beloved dogs, Bella and Bo.
Mick is also survived by his parents, Larry Filson and Melody Filson of Oregon; his five siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Coastal Funeral Home in Lomita, CA. A lunch reception will follow immediately after at The Bay Church. All who knew and loved Mick are welcome to attend and share memories of his incredible life.
He will be missed, and he will be loved—always.
