MORTON – Our sweet Mom and Nana, Margaret E "Midge" Thatcher, 82, of Morton, went to Heaven on December 31, 2024. She was a proud and devoted mother to Dean, Wendy and Fred. She was born March 2, 1942, in Peoria, to Rudolph and Mazie (Shelabarger) Egart, and had one sister, Sandy Williams, who have all preceded her. Her daughter, Wendy (Tom) Craven of Morton; six grandchildren, Cali (Brody) Edwards of Georgia, Taylor Craven of Morton, Haley (Isaiah) Naas of Washington, and Fred's children; Cole, Luke, and Hannah Thatcher of Mackinaw; and two great-grandchildren, Chip and Riggs Edwards will miss her wonderful and caring soul.
She is now with her two loving sons, Dean and Fred Thatcher, rejoicing in Heaven and having a good ole fishing day. Along her side are her beloved dogs, Jane, Sadie-Marie, Brooks, Brett & Sammy.
Once her children were in school Midge decided to attend college and become an LPN. She gave her patients the utmost care with much compassion. She worked in several nursing homes and ended her career in private care.
Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. She was the best mom and nana who took care of her grandchildren and loved them with her whole heart. Midge loved mowing her yard and her flowers were her passion. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, puzzles, and loved chocolate and all sweets. She was the most caring person and gave her time to family, friends, and neighbors. We thank her cherished friends Judy, Dixie and Jack for their wonderful friendships and faithful visits the past 3 years. We are also grateful for the loving care from Nicole, Jasmine and other staff.
She attended CrossPoint Church in East Peoria. A private family burial will be held at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton, with Pastor Randy Hall officiating. Memorials may be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society (T.A.P.S.) in Pekin. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
