Mike Baca

Our beloved Michael E. Baca, known to many as Mike, passed peacefully on the morning of December 17th, 2025, at the age of 82. Mike was born on March 30th, 1943, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Mike and Ernestine Baca. In 1973, Mike moved his family to Farmington, where he worked for BPH at the San Juan Coal Mines for 30 years. Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, and traveling; however, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Ernestine, and his sister, Evelyn Kight. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mona; their children, Michael Baca Jr. and Karen (Ronnie) Gonzales; grandchildren, Alea Gonzales (Manuel) and Fernando Gonzales; siblings, Dolores (Andy) Mora and Margee Ortiz; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A rosary for Mike will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, New Mexico, with a mass to immediately follow.
